Telomere Gap Between Granulocytes and Lymphocytes Is a Determinant for Haematopoetic Progenitor Cell Impairment in Patients With Previous Myocardial Infarction

چکیده
Objective—We have previously demonstrated that ischemic cardiomyopathy is associated with selective impairment of progenitor cell function in the bone marrow and in the peripheral blood, which may contribute to an unfavorable left ventricular remodeling process. Methods and Results—With this study, we intended to identify the influence of telomere length on bone marrow functionality in 50 patients with coronary artery disease and previous myocardial infarction (CAD). Mean telomere length (mTL) was measured simultaneously in peripheral blood leukocytes and mononuclear bone marrow cells (BMC), using the flow-FISH method. Telomere erosion already occurred at the bone marrow level, whereas age (39 bp/yr, P 0.025) and the number of affected vessels (434 bp/vessel, P 0.029) were the only independent predictors. Lymphocytes demonstrated significant TL shortening between BMCs and peripheral blood in CAD patients ( 1011 897 bp) as opposed to an increase in a young control group ( 235 459 bp, P 0.001). SDFand VEGF-specific migration of BMCs correlated with mTL of lymphocytes (r 0.42, P 0.001) and was significantly reduced in CAD patients. Conclusion—In patients with CAD, telomere shortening of BMCs is dependent on both age and the extent of CAD and correlates with bone marrow cell functionality. The telomere length difference between granulocytes and lymphocytes is the most sensitive determinant for telomere-associated bone marrow impairment. (Arterioscler Thromb Vasc Biol 2008;28:000-000.)

متن کاملThe effect of rehabilitation training on TRF1 and TRF2 in myocardial infarction patients
Introduction: Telomeres are repetitive sequences of TTAGGG section that find at two ends of eukaryotic chromosomes and they shield chromosome ends. Telomere shortening in patients with myocardial infarction has been reported. Shelterin complex's role is essential in telomere length regulation. Telomeric repeat binding factors 1 and 2 (TRF1 and TRF2) are the most important sheltrein complex pr...

This study evaluated the relationship between the location of the most severe coronary artery stenosis and the subsequent acute myocardial infarction (AMI). Methods: Of 1590 patients who were admitted with a diagnosis of AMI, we identified 44 patients who had undergone previous myocardial perfusion SPECT. Thirty-one of these patients also had previous coronary angiography. The relationshi...
متن کاملPostprandial triglyceride levels in type 2 diabetic patients with and without history of myocardial infarction
Introduction: Cardiovascular disease is a major cause of death in diabetic cases. Studies have shown that hypertriglyceridemia is an important risk factor for cardiovascular disorders. Although triglyceride level is generally increased in postprandial periods, the association between postprandial triglyceride level in diabetic patients and cardiovascular diseases and myocardial infarction (MI...

SUMMARY Between Aug. 1982 and March 1984, In a prospective, randomized trial approximately 24 hours after the onset of acute myocardial, infarction (MI), the influence of Low dose aspirin (120-150 mg/day, just during inhospital phase), on inhospital and post- hospital mortality rate was studied in 62 patients, and compared with control group. The two groups were comparable with regard to age,...
